A wonderful gathering today at the Children’s Festival organized by TurkuOZ! Although the hosts were Turkish organizations, the festival was multicultural, and I had the special pleasure and honor, in addition to my role as the director of the Bosnian ethnic school, to represent the Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sydney and convey the important message of the Honorary Consul, Mr. Šahinović, about the value of preservation language and culture, and fostering ties with the Turkish community in the wider Australian society. My heart was full of beauty as I listened to my students, Harun, Aydin, Ayla and Alma as they recited the verses of my favorite poet Mak Dizdar in Bosnian and English and, as the organizer tells us, beautified the festival in the Bosnian way :). With a pleasant conversation with officials, such as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, the Consul and the Attache for Education, we felt a bond of friendship and a warm welcome.
