Yesterday we visited the International Burch University in Sarajevo https://www.ibu.edu.ba/, at the initiative of the Honorary Consul of Australia in BiH, Mrs. Elvedina Busuladzic. Our friendly hosts were professors/regular lecturers at Burch University Engin Obučić and Monia Avdić, who are actually Australians of BH origin. Director of BES, prof. Maida Kulić Vugdalić, accompanied by Mak Vugdalić, a student at the University of Sydney, a long-time student of BES, visited only one part of the complex, which really does not lag behind the most modern universities in the world. International Burch University (IBU) is where we educate hearts and minds because educating your mind without educating your heart is not education, which is actually their slogan. It is a private university founded in 2008 in Ilidža, Bosnia and Herzegovina, officially accredited and recognized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton. With departments of technical and natural sciences, economics and social sciences, as well as education, marketing, dentistry, etc., the university is highly respected and follows the model of world standards.
This place also offers a large number of scholarships and financial benefits for students with BH citizenship, with the fact that you can find more details on the university’s website. Professors Engin and Monia also had a lot of questions about the Bosnian Ethnic School and our work, as well as the current education system in Australia, with the desire to invite young Australians of BH origin, like them, to visit this prestigious educational institution and possibly think about continuing their education, in the homeland. Now that the relationship has been established, BES plans to hold a series of workshops in cooperation with Burch University, and to start a project, at the suggestion of Professor Monia – pen pals, where young people from BiH and Australia can correspond, improve their knowledge in Bosnian and English, exchange experiences and broaden horizons. We are very happy and proud about the beginning of this, we are sure, fruitful cooperation, noting that in the same complex is the building of the Richmond Park School, with which we already have an established cooperation. https://www.ibu.edu.ba/
